Crufts is an international championship dog show which is held annually in the UK. The show is organised and hosted by The Kennel Club and sees more than 22,000 dogs compete each year. It is held over 4 days at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, England. It is the largest, oldest and best known dog show in the world. As well as conformation competitions, there is also agility, obedience, flyball, and heelwork to music. You can meet over 200 breeds at Discover Dogs and there are over 400 trade stands with special show offers and exciting new products for you and your furry friend.
Qualifying For Crufts ...
Crufts is NOT an open competition and dogs must qualify by successfully competing at a Kennel Club licensed championship show. These shows are held in the UK and Internationally and are held throughout the previous year. In the UK, the Lagotto Romagnolo is classed under the Gundog group. In order to show your dog in the UK (and at Crufts), your dog must either be already registered in the UK or you must obtained an Authority to Compete (ATC) number from the UK Kennel Club.
UK Registered Dogs
Slightly different regulations apply at UK shows during 2015/16 because there will now be a mix of classes that can be entered at championship shows. These regulations are different from those that applied for Import Register.
A dog is eligible for entry into Lagotto Breed Classes at Crufts 2016 if it has qualified in any of the following ways:
1. Declared Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex in Breed Classes at general of group championship shows
2. Has been placed, as follows, in Breed or Variety classes at general or group championship shows, including Crufts 2015
4. Has won Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show at a general or group championship show during 2015
Overseas Registered Dogs
Dogs living overseas are welcome to enter any UK championship show during 2015/16 in order to qualify for Crufts under the regulations above, but they must already be registered with the UK Kennel Club and be issued with an ATC number (Authority To Compete).
Otherwise the following applies:
Regulations for other countries (USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Bermuda and the Channel Isles) are published each year in the Crufts Schedule.
Also, all overseas dog competitors must have an 'Authority to Compete' (ATC) number.

Thinking of Showing Your Dog in the UK
The Kennel Club has produced a leaflet, Thinking of Showing Your Dog in the UK, for overseas competitors as a information guide to competing in the UK. It gives useful advice on travel to/from and staying in the UK, rules and regulations for travelling to the UK with your dog and dog laws in the UK.
