I have lived with dogs all my life and I owned my first dog at the age of 13. This is when I first started dog training, which I have continued in one form or another ever since.
I first came across Lagottoes at Crufts 2007 when I was vaguely wondering what it would be like to own a smaller gundog as we had owned Labradors and Labrador crosses.
Within a few months we had Magnus and life dramatically changed.
Magnus was not the easiest puppy and needed to be entertained and trained almost constantly, which is how we achieved Good Citizen awards in bronze, silver and gold, we then moved into agility, heel-work to music and then search and rescue, all of which he excelled. He has also qualified as a Pets as Therapy dog.
After much searching and help from my friends on the LRA committee to find a healthy puppy we bought Falco from a wonderful breeder (Kirsten Panitzsch) in Denmark.
Falco has proved to be equally as intelligent as Magnus, but with a much calmer temperament. Falco has now fathered a wonderful litter of puppies.
I firmly believe that the only thing that holds a lagotto back is an owners lack of imagination.
Above all Magnus and Falco are perfect family pets proving to be good companions to our six children, two other dogs( Labrador and Tamasken) and numerous other pets. They have adapted well to several recent moves and are now enjoying life on a large dairy farm on the south coast in Devon.
