Basic obedience classes are the beginning of anything you might want to do with your dog. Whether it be gundog work, working trials, competitive obedience, agility, flyball, heelwork to music or just to own a nicely-mannered companion.

For those that would like to go further with their training and have an interest in competing, there are Kennel Club Pre-beginner stakes offered for those starting out in KC Obedience competition. These are run by Competitive Obedience Clubs, and are the first step up the ladder. They are loosely based on the KC Good Citizen tests, but the heelwork and turns need to be more precise and the dog's focus on handler consistent. www.obedienceuk.com normally advertise classes on their schedules page, and are run all over the country.
